We demand the survival and further development of the NCSR-EKKE

Fifty years after its creation, the National Centre for Social Research

(EKKE) -the only research institution devoted to the social sciences in Greece - faces the imminent danger of being shut down, following the decision of the Inter-ministerial Committee of the Greek government (May

26/09) on closing or merging 255 public organisms with the aim of downscaling public expenditure.

The administration and staff of the NCSR-EKKE strongly protest against this decision and call on all concerned members of the international research and academic communities to express their support for this historic institution's survival and further development.
